Lincoln County Animal Control handles multiple issues, such as stray animals, animal cruelty, nuisance complaints and animal bites.

-          Stray animals

  • LCAS officers will pick up stray animals in the field, with the exception of cats. Stray cats may be brought in by members of the public, Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 5 PM and Saturday, 12 PM to 5 PM.

-          Owner Surrenders

  • LCAS officers do not pick up owner surrender requests. Please see the Owner Surrender tab for more information on the surrender process.

-          Animal Cruelty

  • To report suspected animal cruelty, please contact the Animal Control Department at 704-736-4125 extension 3. Animal Cruelty reports may be made anonymously.

-          Nuisance Complaints

  • Nuisance complaints may be reported to Animal Control at 704-736-4125 extension 3. Nuisance complaints may not be reported anonymously. Barking dogs may fall under the noise ordinance, which is enforced by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department (704-732-9050) or Lincoln County Animal Services.

-          Animal Bites

  • If an animal bites you, please seek medical attention. State and Local Law requires that ALL animal bites be reported immediately. Please contact the Animal Control department at 704-736-4125 ext. 3 to do so.

-          Wildlife

  • Contact LCAS at 704-736-4125 extension 3 if you have concerns about a wounded or possibly rabid wild animal. All other issues concerning wildlife are handled by the NC Wildlife Department (866-318-2401).
