NC 16 Corridor Vision Plan
The NC 16 Corridor Vision Plan process began in the Summer of 2008 with the goal of developing a long range vision of the corridor. The steering committee hosted its first public forum July 17th, 2008 to gain a consensus of how the community wanted to develop over time. Since the initial public forum the steering committee has met regularly to discuss the issues of the corridor and determine recommendations for the corridor. The steering committee presented their recommendation at their April 23rd, 2009 Public Forum. The project updates that have been presented to the steering committee as well as information presented and gathered at the public forum is available below. The draft report was unveiled by the steering committee at a joint session between the Board of Commissioners and Planning Board on January 12, 2010.

NC 73 Transportation/Land Use Corridor Plan

The NC 73 Transportation/Land Use Corridor Plan is a coordinated land use and multi-modal transportation plan for a 35 mile corridor, integrating local land use plans with strategic regional transportation needs.

The plan is the by-product of a coordinated, multi-jurisdictional transportation and land use planning effort, involving three counties, five municipalities, three chambers of commerce, two metropolitan planning organizations, one rural planning organization, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT).

This plan represents the first wide-scale effort by NCDOT to integrate land use and transportation planning, recognizing the essential linkage between the two. This plan received the 2006 Marvin Collins Planning Award from the North Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association.

NC 150 West
 Corridor Plan
The goal of the project is to ensure that Cherryville, Gaston County, Lincoln County, and Lincolnton will grow in an organized pattern that respects local history, anticipates growth pressures, and preserves mobility between the two municipalities.
All parties would continue to advocate for future improvements to NC 150 in Lincoln County while managing growth to maintain mobility along the existing roadway consistent with the approved vision for the corridor.

This corridor study consultant is Centralina Council of Governments and has a projected completion date of Summer 2009.
