Vital Records
Requirements for obtaining a certified copy of a vital record filed in Lincoln County, NC.

In order to obtain a certified birth, death or marriage certificate, one of the following (A, B, or C) must apply:

  1. Applicant can request their own vital record or an immediate relative can request the birth/death/marriage certificate.  North Carolina General Statutes define immediate relative for purposes of obtaining a certified copy of a vital record to be a spouse, sister, brother, child, parent/stepparent, grandparent or grandchild.  A current photo ID is required if requesting in person.
  2. Applicant is seeking information for legal determination of personal or property rights (Proof must be provided).  A current photo ID is required if requesting in person.
  3. Applicant is authorized agent, attorney, or legal representative of a person listed in A or B above (Proof must be provided).  A current photo ID is required if requesting in person.

Mail request should include the completed request form, a copy of current photo identification such as a driver’s licenses and certified funds ($10.00 for each certified copy requested) made payable to Lincoln County Register of Deeds.
