Be sure to fully complete and sign the application.

Where do I mail my application?

bullet

Applications may be mailed to:  Lincoln County Human Resources Department, 115 West Main Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Do I have to fill out the entire application or can I just attach my resume?

Our application form is the basis for candidate evaluation and
interview selection and therefore needs to be completed.
Incomplete information may result in disqualification.

If I am applying for more than one job, do I have to complete more than one application?

bullet

A separate application must be completed for each position you are
applying for.

What happens after I submit my application?

bullet

All applications are evaluated for requirements as stated in the job
announcement.  Applicants who do not possess the essential license,
certificates, skills, education or experience are eliminated from the
process.  Remaining applications are reviewed by the appropriate
department supervisor(s) for further consideration.

Will my application be considered if it is submitted after the closing date on the job announcement?

bullet

You must meet the stated deadline to be eligible for consideration
for any position.   This means the application must be turned in by
5:00 p.m. on the deadline date.  If you turn in an application
after the deadline, it will not be considered.  Note that some
positions do not have closing deadlines.

Will I be notified of the status of my application?

bullet

Applicants that are selected for interviews are notified by the
hiring official(s).

How long of a time period before I hear anything?

bullet

The period of time of hiring can be impacted by several factors; the
number of applications received, the number of job openings within
the department being recruited, workload of department doing the
hiring process, holiday breaks, supervisor and department head
schedules and unexpected events.

How long will my application be kept on file?

bullet

Applications are kept actively on file until the position is filled

I applied for a position about six months ago but didn’t get it.  Now I see there is another similar position available.  Can you pull my last application?

bullet

No, because our application process requires a separate
application be submitted for each job for which you wish to be
considered during the period that the position is advertised, even
if it is the same position title as you applied for previously.

If I do not see a job listed on the website that I am interested in, can I send you a resume and have you keep it on file until a position opens up?

bullet

Our system is not set up to handle unsolicited resumes or applications.
If you send a resume or application for a job that is not available,
or a job that does not exist, it will not be reviewed.  You must
wait until a position of interest is opened, and then submit your
application before the stated deadline.
