Community Facilities

Lincolnton and Lincoln County residents cherish the ecumenical roots and beliefs that have formed the foundation of their caring, generous community. However, they embrace the importance of balancing religious heritage with progressive reforms and ideas. Such a refreshing perspective renders Lincoln County a most desirable location for child-rearing and family life.  Examining the cornerstones of numerous local churches prompts reflection on the strong faith of Lincolnton and Lincoln County residents, past and present. Lincoln County is the only county to have six churches listed on the historic register individually. These historic sanctuaries are the Lincoln Cultural Center (formerly the First Baptist Church), First United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Emanual Reform Church. Today, approximately 122 churches representing 16 different denominations serve the religious needs of the area. Churches minister to their congregations as a whole, while groups such as youths, senior adults and singles find special fellowships within the larger group. Religious retreats and revival meetings are held annually at Rock Springs Campground and Tucker's Camp Meeting.
Civic commitment thrives in Lincolnton and Lincoln County! An abundance of helping hands perform essential outreach activities through Hospice, the United Way, Meals on Wheels and the Red Cross. Over 50 civic clubs and fraternal organizations sponsor a multitude of programs and are involved in worthwhile charitable causes.  Residents of all ages display a healthy regard for the environment, as is evidenced by the strong recycling programs found here. The schools are active participants in the recycling plan, teaching children the importance of preserving our earth and its resources. A beautiful local resource, Lake Norman, is protected by a multi-county committee. The Lake Norman Marine Commission includes representatives from Catawba, Iredell, Lincoln and Mecklenburg counties and helps enforce rules and regulations on the lake.
