[ARCHIVED] Public Input Series: 2017 Lincoln County Future Land Use Map

Staff from the Lincoln County Planning & Inspections Department is hosting a series of public meetings designed to gain input of the maps for the 2017 future land use plan that have been drafted and refined over the past year.

Staff from the Lincoln County Planning & Inspections Department is hosting a series of public meetings designed to gain input of the maps for the 2017 future land use plan that have been drafted and refined over the past year. The land use plan as a whole is a collective vision for the future – a framework for how Lincoln County should grow and how development should take place over the next several years. The plan includes a set of principles, objectives and strategies to provide for orderly growth by forging links between land use, public utility networks, transportation infrastructure, and community facilities.

The plan is a policy document that provides guidance for making zoning decisions, with a map that designates specific areas as suitable for certain types of development. It is a means to balance competing interests, to protect public investments, to preserve natural and historic resources, to promote economic development, to enhance public health and to shape the appearance of the community.

The goal of this series of drop-in meetings is to gain input on the current state of the future land use maps prior to holding a public hearing on the maps in November. We encourage you to drop by one of the meetings and offer your comments on the maps.
