Gaston County has been awarded $100,000 by the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency (NCHFA) under the 2017 cycle of the Urgent Repair Program to assist Gaston & Lincoln County residents. This program provides funds to assist very-low and low-income households in addressing housing conditions that pose imminent threats to their life and/or safety or in providing accessibility modifications and other repairs necessary to prevent displacement. Applicants must own and occupy the home in need of repairs and must meet one of the following criteria:

1) have a special need (e.g., elderly, handicapped, or disabled);

2) be a veteran;

3) be a single parent with a dependent living at home;

4) be a large family with 5 household members;

5) or a household with a child below six with an elevated blood lead level.

Eligibility is also subject to  income guidelines. Please check with the appropriate county contact to verify eligibility. The goal of the program is to assist approximately 13 households between the two counties. URP funding is overseen by the NCHFA with funds coming from the North Carolina Housing Trust Fund. Applications will be available beginning August 1st, 2017 and must be submitted by September 1st, 2017.
