The Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District partnered with the Lincoln County GIS Department to create a GIS layer containing historical aerial photography conducted during 1938, 1951, 1956 & 1968.
The layer will be added to GIS and will serve as a valuable tool. The historical aerials can be used by consultants to complete Phase 1 Environmental Assessments. Citizens will be able to use this layer to obtain information about the history of property, land boundary disputes, learn of past farming practices, compare & contrast past/future land uses. The historical aerials will be beneficial to school groups as well as a way to learn about sprawling urbanization. One of the great features of this layer is the option to view a historical aerial side by side with the current aerial.
Questions or comments on the historical layer, can be submitted to the Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation or the GIS Department.
