Lincoln County/City of Lincolnton Recreation Community Meetings Announced for January


Lincoln County and the City of Lincolnton will be holding community meetings in late January as part of the ongoing recreation master plan update process. McGill and Associates is performing the recreation master plan update with the County and City.

The purpose of the recreation master plan update is to provide direction for future recreation programs and facilities in Lincoln County and the City of Lincolnton. This includes plans for new facilities and programs as well as improvements to existing facilities.

Notice of Meeting Location Change:

Due to scheduling issues, the original meeting locations have changed for the Wednesday, January 27, 2021  and Thursday, January 28, 2021 meetings. The new locations have been added below.

Event Information and Updated Locations 01/12/21

The community meeting schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesday, January 27, 2021, 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. - Gaston College, Lincoln Campus, 514 S. Academy St., Lincolnton, NC
  • Thursday, January 28, 2021, 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. - Howards Creek Community Center, 494 Howards Creek School Rd., Lincolnton, NC
  • Friday, January 29, 2021, 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. - East Lincoln Community Center, 8160 Optimist Club Road Denver, NC

Community meetings will be offered as drop-in meetings to the public, where we invite residents to visit with our staff and master plan consultants to offer ideas for the future of recreation. These community meetings will operate under current state group gathering guidelines and will have limited capacity inside the facilities. Recreation staff will be monitoring the meetings and providing instructions to those waiting to enter.

The recreation master plan survey is also available for residents to provide input on the future of recreation. The survey can be completed by visiting the website listed or by visiting the Lincoln County or City of Lincolnton website. The recreation survey closes on January 31, 2021.
