    APRIL TURNER is a performing and literary artist currently based in the southeastern United States. Turner specializes in African theatre, dance performance and cultural traditions in the diaspora. Her research has taken her to Gambia, Senegal, Brasil, Canada and Mexico. Turner is interested in sharing ideas demonstrating ways in which artforms and culture can be used to affect positive change in challenged neighborhoods and educational settings. Ms. Turner’s work presenting traditional African stories and dance performances, residencies and workshops have made her a favorite among community centers, schools and cultural organizations nationwide.
