Zoning Permits and Applications

This page contains information and links related to the various Building and Land Development Zoning Permits and Applications available in Lincoln County.

Applications must be printed and submitted to Building and Land Development either in person, faxed (if you have a current charge account-for contractors only) or by mail. Payment types accepted are cash or check only. No credit cards or debit cards.

Various Lincoln County Zoning Permits and Applications:

1. Conditional Use Application: Request a use that may be allowed as a special use within a particular zoning district. Special conditions may be applied to the use.

2. Zoning Map Change Application: Request that property be rezoned to a different zoning district.

3. Variance Application: Request a variance from the zoning requirements.

4. Appeal Application: Request an appeal to a decision made by the Zoning Administrator.

5. Accessory Care Provider Application: Allows for a temporary 2^nd residence for the specific use of taking care of an incapacitated family member. See Zoning Ordinance Section 2.4 definition of Accessory Care Provider Housing Unit.

6. Sign Permit Application: To be obtained before the placement of signs.

7. Mobile Home Removal Extension: This application allows for an extension of time when the removal of a mobile home has been delayed by unforeseen circumstances.

8. Watershed Permit Application: For pools this insures compliance with buffer regulations along Lake Norman. Also, regulates and lists limitations for built upon areas within the various Lincoln County watershed areas.

9. Complaint Forms: These forms are for zoning complaints. They may be mailed in or brought into the office personally. These forms are public records and do not require a signature.

10. Parallel Conditional Use Rezoning Application (PCUR): a process of rezoning that places conditions on the specified use.

11. Zoning Text Change Application: Allows for the submittal and change of text located within the Lincoln County Zoning Ordinance.
